🏆 Tips for Avoiding Rogue Traders 🏆

✅ Don’t Accept Doorstep Offers:

Rogue traders often use high-pressure sales tactics to persuade homeowners to accept work they don’t need. Always take time to consider any offers made on your doorstep.

âś… Check for Red Flags:

Unusual payment demands, such as a large upfront deposit or a request for cash-only transactions, should raise suspicions. A reputable tradesperson will offer transparent payment terms and won’t ask for large sums of money before work begins.

âś… Your Rights as a Consumer:

As a consumer in the UK, you have legal protections in place to ensure that any services you pay for are carried out with care and skill. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 ensures that all services provided must be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and if a service is not performed to a satisfactory standard, you are entitled to a remedy. This could include the right to ask for the work to be redone or a refund.

It’s also important to note that consumers have a right to cancel contracts within 14 days of agreeing to services. If the contract is signed off-site (such as at home), you have an additional 14-day cooling-off period. Understanding your rights allows you to make confident decisions and take appropriate action if things go wrong.
